Lesson 7: Angles & triangles
Description: Identifying three different types of angles.
Goals: Students will engage creating a three different types of triangles on a geo board and through Iknowthat.com.
Objective: Students will be able to identify and create and identify a right, acute, and obtuse triangle.
Materials:
  • Computer
  • Smart board
  • Access to Iknowthat.com
  • Geo-board
  • Rubber band
Procedure:
1. Teacher will review that different types of angles and triangles by drawing them on the board and influencing/inciting a discussion about they two things (angles and triangles).
2. Teacher will then ask students read over the definitions of all the different types of angles and triangles from their textbook.
3. Teacher will ask appropriate questions to reflect the students general knowledge of the things being taught.
4. Each child will then be given a geo-board and rubber bands then be asked to make the different types of angles.
The children will hide their answers until the teacher sees that all have accomplished the task. When the teacher says, “reveal” the children will then show their answer to the class and the rest of the pupil population.
This process will be repeated several times.
5. When the teacher feels that the majority of the students have the correct understanding of the concept the attention will be turned to the smart board.
6. While on the smart board, volunteers will be asked to create specific types of triangles and angles.
The students that remain seated will have to complete the same answers at their seat on the geo-board.
Closure:
A short worksheet will be given out and completed in which the students will have to draw the different types of angles and triangles to answer specific questions.
Assessment: paper will be collected and graded .
